A Handheld Weather Radio That Does It All!

ELECLOVER Solar Crank AM/FM/NOAA(WB) EWS Alert Weather Radio

I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up in Wisconsin with the threat of spring and summer tornadoes or if it’s just my general fascination with storms, but I’ve always liked to be aware with what’s going on with the weather. And being a techie, I found the perfect gadget to satisfy my need to stay in tune with the weather.

The gadget I’m referring to is the ELECLOVER Solar Crank AM/FM/NOAA(WB) EWS Alert Weather Radio. That’s a mouthful to say so let me break down what this radio can do.

Weather Radio

First and foremost it’s a weather radio. This means it sits in a standby mode 24 hours/day waiting for weather alert broadcasts. As soon as it receives one, it plays the alert. Quite useful for those days you may not be paying attention to the weather or when you are sleeping and may not hear a storm rolling in.

Of course, if you just feel like listening to the radio, it also has an AM and FM band built in.

Flashlight / Portable Charger

In case your power goes out, the ELECLOVER Solar Crank AM/FM/NOAA(WB) EWS Alert Weather Radio has a built-in 60 lumen flashlight so you can make your way around in the dark.

Speaking of power outages, it also has a built-in USB port for charging your smartphone in a pinch.

4 Power Options

You may be wondering at this point, where the radio itself gets its power. That’s another beauty of this radio. It actually can receive power 4 different ways:

  1. By using a USB cable to charge its rechargeable Li-ion battery
  2. Using AAA batteries
  3. Using the built-in solar panels
  4. Using the built-in hand crank

The hand crank is obviously the last option but it does work. Just be prepared to deal with sore arms for a few days!

Bonus paracord bracelet

The ELECLOVER Solar Crank AM/FM/NOAA(WB) EWS Alert Weather Radio also comes with a bonus paracord bracelet. I guess this is for the survivalist type who might take the radio with them on a hike or while camping. The bracelet is quite functional though. It has a compass and whistle on one side and a seraded metal piece on the other for scraping or cutting. The manufacturer claims it can even be used to start a fire but I didn’t try that (I never was much of a boy scout).

5-in-1 paracord bracelet

The ELECLOVER Solar Crank AM/FM/NOAA(WB) EWS Alert Weather Radio with the bonus paracord bracelet is going for $34.99 on Amazon.com as of this writing.
