How I lost an argument with my mom over a 90 second video

Over Christmas, a bunch of my family members crowded around the television to watch some of our favorite recent YouTube videos. These included popular videos such as Funny Talking Animals – Walk On The Wild Side Preview – BBC One, Nicki Minaj – Super Bass By Sophia Grace Brownlee and Home – Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros Acoustic Cover (Jorge & Alexa Narvaez).

Because the last two videos led to television appearances, my mom and I got into a friendly debate on both the genuineness of the videos and the ulterior motives of the creators.

I argued that the videos were 100% genuine and that there were no ulterior motives whatsoever. In other words, the creators just got lucky when their video went viral.

My mom argued that the creators were using trickery to create the videos with the express ulterior motive to get on television.

In the end we agreed to disagree. But then I found this:

If you can not see the embedded video above please use the following link: Golden Loves Guitar !!

First things first. I think the video is funny. The dog appears to be quite content while listening to the guitar and not-so-content when the guitarist stops playing.

But the blatantly obvious product placement of a Bud Light can on the table in the video is ridiculous. It is more than obvious to me that this guy is hoping Budweiser picks up this video for its next Bud Light commercial. And is it coincidence the Super Bowl is right around the corner?

Read the comments on the video and you’ll also find people questioning whether or not the dog is really responding to the guitar. Since the only thing in the video (besided the Bud Light can) is the dog, for all we know a third person is holding up a dog treat every time the guitar music stops.

So as much as I hate to admit it, when it comes to this video, my mom wins hands-down.

P.S. As of this writing, the video above has over 3.5 million views. If Budweiser really picks this up and makes it a commercial I think I will throw up. And then I will start including Pepsi cans in all of my future videos.
