The Moto G 5G Plus is arguably the most affordable smartphone with 5G connectivity in the market today. Let’s see what this gadget from Motorola has to offer, shall we?

Moto G 5G Plus: A High-end Smartphone Without Breaking the Bank

1.Standout Features

The Moto G 5G Plus boasts of the side-mounted fingerprint scanner sensor power button combo. Of course, it has 5G connectivity, which is said to revolutionize our lives by virtually intertwining people to devices, machines, and objects.

Another feature is the NFC or Near Field Communication, where one can share images, contacts, websites, or contactless payments from NFC-supported locations.

2. What’s In The Box?

The Moto G 5G Plus device also comes with a SIM tool, USB Type-C charging cable, and a 20W TurboPower charger, guides, and protective cover. Pretty much everything you need.

However, It seems the earphones are sold separately.

3. Price

The price is pretty competitive compared to other 5G smartphones. The cost would vary depending on the RAM and internal storage capacity with the 4GB/64GB for $349 and 6GB/128GB at $399.

4. Design

The Moto G 5G Plus comes in only one color to date— Surfing Blue. The phone has a dimension of 6.61 x 2.91 x .35 inches and weighs about 207 grams.

The body or casing is made up of plastic flashing a glossy microdot back. Motorola does claim this design to be water-repellant.

The front has a huge screen display surrounded by thick bezels with two single-camera lenses on the upper left. The backside on the other hand has a square camera housing that sports four cameras that almost looks like that of the iPhone 11.

There is also a dedicated Google Assistant button that can be found conveniently beside the SIM card tray for easy access anytime you need it. The power button beside the volume rocker also acts as a fingerprint scanner sensor.

There’s a lone speaker located at the bottom and a 3.5mm headset jack and the USB Type C charging port.

5. Display

The 6.7″ screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 90% Active Area-Touch Panel or AATP. The glass is:

  • protected by corning gorilla glass
  • a 2.5D curved glass—supported to shield it from slight accidental falls and scratches

The Moto G 5G Plus also has a 1080 × 2520 resolution display with a Full HD+ CinemaVision display. Combined with HDR10, it presents vibrant colors and sharp contrasts when watching movies or playing games.

The display also boasts a refresh rate that can be adjusted as high as 90Hz, swiping, scrolling, and navigating has never been smooth and seamless.

6. Performance

The processor is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G chipset for increased bandwidth, lesser latency, and little to no lag when watching videos or browsing.

The operating system is built with Android 10 and built-in internal storage and RAM of 64GB or 128GB and 4GB or 6GB. The memory can be expanded up to 1TB, so you wouldn’t worry about running out of space, especially if you’re always on the go.

Moto G 5G Plus has multiple featured sensors such as Gyroscope, Accelerometer, Proximity, Sensor Hub, Ambient Light, and E-compass. Both the fingerprint reader and face unlock are made available for security options if you want to up your privacy.

7. Camera

Most smartphones try to up their ante to come out on top or compete with those on top when it comes to this feature. Here are the highlights for the Moto G 5G Plus camera:

Front Cameras – Placed separately on the left side corner of the screen. Each camera glows to show the user which camera is being used.

  • 16MP and 8MP(Ultrawide Angle)
    • Camera options are manual mode, screen flash, auto smile capture, active photos, portrait mode, cinemagraph, live filter, face beauty, timer, gesture selfie, spot color, night vision, and group selfie.
  • FHD and HD Video capture both at 30fps
    • Video options are electronic stabilization, hyper-lapse, and timelapse.

Rear Cameras

  • Hardware
    • Main camera with Quad Pixel technology @ 48MP
    • Macro @ 5MP
    • 118° Ultra-Wide @ 8MP
    • Depth Camera @ 2MP
    • Software options are auto smile capture, smart composition, timer, manual mode, portrait lighting, macro, cinemagraph, live filter, RAW photo output, Google Lens integration, night vision, best shot, high-res zoom, panorama, spot color, cutout, portrait mode, active photos, HDR, gesture selfie, and shot optimization.
  • Video Capture on ultra-wide and macro for FHD and HD at 30fps. The same fps on UHD and HD for the main camera with only the FHD showing the difference of 60/30fps. While there’s none for the Depth camera.
    • Video options are video snapshot, electronic video stabilization, time-lapse video, macro video, slow motion, hyperlapse, and HDR.

8. Battery

Moto G 5G Plus comes with a powerful 5000 Mah battery and claims it to last up to 48 hours on one full charge. One full charge can last 100 to 110 minutes with the TurboPower Fast charging, which is quite fast considering the juice it can store.

Motorola has somehow raised the bar when it comes to squeezing in a ton of features on a smartphone for an average price. Some would be excited to get their hands on this, and some may not be so eager to do so. Whichever the case, you can’t expect top-of-the-line performance for shelling out a few bucks less. Yet availing of 5G features is a great plus in itself. Consumers will surely be happy to avail themselves of this wonder of a phone.
