Get Nostalgic With The New Sega Forever Collection

SEGA is bringing some of your favorite games to mobile in new, free-to-play formats that include ads as a way to drive revenue, support offline play and other more modern features like cloud saves. The games can also be rendered ad-free with a one-time $1.99 purchase, which is a really good deal given the pedigree of some of these titles, and what you might pay elsewhere to get re-released versions of classic console games.

Like fashion, nostalgic games apparently also make comebacks. Last year, Nintendo released the Famicom Classic mini console, preloaded with classic games that people who grew up in the 90s enjoyed. In today’s mobile age, however, gaming isn’t just confined to a Play Station or WII anymore. The new Sega Forever collection will definitely reach both current and “retired” gamers.

Did It Meet Fans’ Expectations?

Despite the interesting concept, the new Sega Forever collection emulation received didn’t exactly meet some people’s expectations. Digital Foundry writer John Linneman warned players away from the upcoming game set, calling it “lousy” and “not good at all.”

Nevertheless, Sega Network’s chief marketing officer Mike Evans, found the reaction to the new collection “strong” bringing in “some very good sentiment.” Although, he did admit that it still needs some room for improvement.

To Bridge Generation Gap

It looks like the classic game nostalgia won’t be stopping with the new Sega Forever collection. The gaming company plans to launch other games covering multiple console generations in the future. If this launch is successful, it looks like the generation gaps would be blurred among gamers.
