The BionTek Car Vent Cell Phone Holder is pretty simple to use. The base part easily clips on to the car vent in your car. The part facing you is a strong magnet. The other piece is a small disc with metal on one side and adhesive on the other.

You can adhere the metal disc to the back of your phone directly, the back of your phone case or you can slip the disc between the back of your phone and its case. You’ll want to choose the method that gives you the most “stick” on the magnet.

Advantages

There are a couple of advantages to the BionTek Car Vent Cell Phone Holder. The first is that it is ridiculously easy to mount your phone. Because of the magnets, it basically just snaps your phone into place.

The second is that there is no cradle to clamp down your phone. This eliminates the worry of the clamp pressing down on the buttons on the side of your phone while mounted. It also makes it really easy to access the buttons on the side of your phone. Better yet, the lack of a cradle means you don’t have to worry about the size of your phone fitting in the mounting device.

Disadvantages

I did notice a few disadvantages to the BionTek Car Vent Cell Phone Holder. One is that you can’t swivel or otherwise adjust the angle of your phone once it is attached. The other is that some of the thicker cases don’t hold very well unless you stick the adhesive disc directly to the back of your phone’s case (not the most desirable situation in my opinion).

Finally, the idea of attaching my phone directly to a vent in my car worries me. Not so much in the summer because the air conditioning will keep the phone nice and cool but more in the winter when I’m blasting heat out of the air vents. I couldn’t test this because it’s still summer but I wonder how much the heat from my car’s air vents would affect my phone’s internal temperature.
