Sometimes bumping into people can be fun

I just got back last night from an incredible iLearningGlobal conference in Salt Lake City. Not only did I learn a lot at the conference, but I got to network with some of the top movers and shakers in the company.

On the last day of the conference, several of us wanted to exchange contact information with each other. That’s when I remembered the Bump application I recently downloaded for my iPhone.

Bump works like this. You open the application on your iPhone and specify which contact information on your phone you want to exchange. The person you are exchanging information with does the same. Then you simply hold your iPhone in your hand and “bump” hands with the other person. As soon as each iPhone detects the bump, it automatically exchanges contact information with the other iPhone.

Simple… and totally cool

Of course, this only works with two people who each have an iPhone. But believe me, it’s not difficult these days to find someone who owns an iPhone.

So did I have to resort to the old pen-and-paper or business card exchange with the other people who didn’t have an iPhone? Nope. But that’s a topic for another blog post later this week.

P.S. Special shout-out to Alicia in San Diego for volunteering to be my first bump!
