Note: This is my first video shot in my new home studio using a green screen backdrop. I haven’t decided on a permanent backdrop yet so please be patient over the next few weeks as I try a few different backdrops out. If you like a particular look, be sure to let me know!

Hello, this is Patric Welch, otherwise known as Mr. Noobie®, and this is the Weekly Wrap-up with… you know what? Let’s change things up a bit. Welcome to the Lighter Side of Technology.

Speaking of changing things up, this is also my first video I’m shooting in my new home studio, complete with green screen and brand new lighting. What do you think? This will hopefully eliminate some of the poor lighting and drab background problems that have been brought to my attention on past videos. If you see a big improvement, I’d love to hear about it because I’ve put a lot of time and energy into making my videos look the best they can. Hopefully, you’ll see the difference.

Ok, on with the show.

A recent study shows that 40% of teens video chat with their friends. While this number might not be alarming, a follow-up study by Noobie shows that 100% of these same kids don’t listen to their parents, think school and homework are a waste of time and expect to own a billionaire Internet company by the time they are 16.

Research in Motion, the company behind the BlackBerry phone, announced its new operating system dubbed BlackBerry 10 set to debut this fall. The biggest question, however, that still looms on consumer’s minds is… “People still use BlackBerrys?”

Google has added a new feature to Gmail which allows it to translate emails into different languages. I recently used this new feature to translate an email from my wife and was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.

Sega has announced a new video game system called Toylet that mounts to urinals in men’s bathrooms. The new video game lacks the traditional video game controllers and instead is controlled by the volume and pressure of your… well, you know. And just in case you didn’t drink enough coffee this morning, there’s a pay-per-play option as well.

Really Sega? You’re almost making this too easy for me. But here goes anyway.

I bet you have to be a real whiz to develop games for this new system. And I wonder how they make sure new games don’t leak out early to the public. I’m guessing they tell their employees “Urine a lot of trouble if you do.” And I wonder what happens when you break the high score on a game? Do they invite you to a celebration potty?

Finally, before I end this episode I want to say thank you to everyone who sent me kind words about the ordeal I recently went through with my 15-year-old dog, Lambeau. He’s made incredible improvements and I want to stick to my word of including him in one of my videos if he got better. So, come here Lambeau!

That’s it for this episode of the Lighter Side of Technology. I’m Mr. Noobie®, otherwise known as Patric Welch and I’ll see you next week.
