Warning: Don’t Sleep With Your Smartphone!

Samsung pillow fire

Do you sleep with your smartphone? I know that sounds like a crazy question but you might be surprised at how many people answer yes to the question.

In a recent Noobie survey, 55% of respondents indicated they place their mobile phone next to their bed while sleeping at night. Now it seems some (mostly teenagers and young adults) are sleeping with their mobile phone in their bed.

Why do I bring this up? Because I just read a news story about a 13-year-old girl who slept with her Samsung Galaxy S4 underneath her pillow at night. Do you want to take any guesses as to what happened as a result of this? Watch the video below to find out.

To be fair to Samsung (and to not scare the wits out of everyone reading this), the girl’s phone in this video had a replacement battery in her phone (i.e., not an original Samsung part) which may have been the cause of the problem. If nothing else, you may want to think twice about using non-OEM parts (especially batteries) for your smartphone.

And replacement parts aside, if you’re one of the people sleeping with your smartphone and you’re not giving it proper air flow, be warned that you could be putting yourself at risk.
