Hello, this is Patric Welch, otherwise known as Mr. Noobie®. Welcome to another episode of the Lighter Side of Technology.
The battle between Apple and Samsung on who copied who was recently decided in the courtroom. When it was all said and done, Samsung was ordered to pay Apple 1.05 billion dollars in damages.
1.05 BILLION!
In a related story, Apple, on the heels of its upcoming iPhone 5 launch, announced it has expanded its iDevice buyback program to include the iPhone 4S.
Hmmmmmm.. I wonder where Apple is getting all of the money to buyback these iPhones?
Motorola has announced a new line of Razr smartphones including the new Droid RAZR MAXX HD. The new HD version of the phone features a larger screen, a crisper display and an even better battery than its predecessor.
This is great news as it means I almost made it six months this time before my current Droid Razr Maxx became obsolete.
A hacker group called AntiSec has reported they have a list of 12 million Apple Universal Device IDs or UDIDs that they stole from an FBI agent’s computer.
Which begs the question… Why on earth does an FBI agent have 12 million IDs on his computer?
The good news is that if you own an Apple device such as an iPhone or iPad, you can check online to see if your device ID was compromised.
The bad news is that, even if your ID is on the list, there’s not a whole lot you can do about it.
Except buy a new iPhone or iPad!
Mark Zuckerberg has tried to ease Facebook shareholder’s pain by vowing not to sell his own shares of Facebook for at least the next 12 months.
I guess that means we may have to wait another year to see how rich he gets.
Lucky for us, we get to see how rich Apple gets when they release the iPhone 5 on September 12th!
