Writing things down still beats out high tech alternatives

There are hundreds of different ways you can use technology to remind yourself of something important you need to do. You can record your reminders on a website. You can use an app on your phone. Or you can go slightly lower tech and email yourself or leave yourself a voice mail.

But according to a recent Noobie survey, one reminder method still wins out over all the others. It’s called writing it down. That’s right. Writing it down. Like using a pen or pencil and writing down the thing you need to remember on paper.

Looks like technology hasn’t taken over yet, huh?

For the record, the closest methods after writing things down were using an app on your phone and emailing yourself. Personally, I use a cominbation of these things. I prefer writing things down over any other method, but when I’m out and about and a task pops into my head that I am sure to forget, I will take out my smartphone and email myself so that I can write it down later when I check my email.

For tasks that are several months (or even years) out in the future, like remembering to buy a birthday card or renewing my driver’s license, I still like to use a web service like Remember the Milk.
