I love it when it rains on my computer

Back in the 90s I bought a CD that contained only two tracks—the first was 30 minutes with nothing but the sound of rain. The second was 30 more minutes of rain but this time with thunder.

For at least 10 years I wore that CD out, playing it on a continuous loop through the night when I went to bed. There’s something about the sound of a good thunderstorm that makes me sleep like a baby. Eventually, my CD player burned out and I never replaced it.

In the past few years, I replaced that old CD with the Sleep Pillow app which not only simulates a thunderstorm but also a half-dozen other soothing sounds.

Rainy Mood

As if the app doesn’t make it easy enough to call up an on-demand thunderstorm whenever the mood strikes, I think I found something even easier. It’s a website called Rainy Mood. To fire it up, just go to www.rainymood.com. That’s it. Instant thunderstorm.

Yes, in order to keep it playing and continue working you need to keep the website open but with today’s tabbed browsers, it’s super easy to open up Rainy Mood in one browser tab and continue working in another.

Who wants to be in a rainy mood with me?
