Netflix combats bedtime stallers with new 5 minute favorites

Netflix 5 Minute Favorites

Putting kids to bed can be long drawn-out process. Actually, more like a long drawn-out negotiation. To this day, my teenage boys still beg me to let them watch television until the next commercial or, on Sunday or Monday night football nights, until the end of the quarter. Admittedly, it’s easier to negotiate with them now but it wasn’t so easy when they were younger.

Is your kid a bedtime staller?

The 5 minute solution

Netflix believes they may have come up with a tool to help parents of younger kids with their negotiations. Netflix calls them 5 Minute Favorites and you guessed it, they are short shows that are only 5 minutes long. So now when your child asks you for just 5 for minutes of television, you can trust that they will truly only watch 5 more minutes.

Here’s a video Netflix released showing BatDad negotiating and eventually winning the battle for bedtime with his kids:

How to find the 5 Minute Favorites

To find the Netflix 5 Minute Favorites, log in to your Netflix account and search for “5 Minute Favorites”. Currently, there are only a handful of Dinotrux shows but I’m guessing that if this takes off, Netflix will add plenty more 5 Minute Favorites to their catalog.
