Print, print, print. No wonder people are confused

confused womanSo there I am teaching a woman how to print out one of her Yahoo emails. I tell her to click the Actions button and then select Print from the menu. At this point a smaller window pops up containing only the body of the email she wishes to print. At the top of the window is the hyperlinked word Print.

I tell the woman to click that print link and when she does a Windows printer dialog box pops up with options for selecting a printer, page range and more.

“What do I do now?”, she asks.

“Click the Print button near the bottom of the window” I reply.

A few seconds later a copy of her email appears on the printer.

And then she looks at me and asks, “So in order to print an email, I click the Actions button then click Print, Print and then Print?

I didn’t want to answer her question but I knew I had to. “Yes, you click Print 3 times to print an email.”

It’s no wonder people are confused about technology.
