I’m really excited about this giveaway, mainly because I personally reviewed the software before writing this review and it works great. The software is called MacX DVD Ripper Pro and it comes in both Mac and Windows versions. The makers of MacX DVD Ripper Pro, Digiarty Software, has authorized me to give away three copies of their software.

What MacX DVD Ripper Pro does

In a nutshell, MacX DVD Ripper Pro allows you to rip DVD movies (or any DVD really) into a single digital file. This digital file can then be transferred to your smartphone or tablet to allow you to enjoy the movies you already own on your device.

You can also specify the target device which is really helpful. So if you know you are going to watch your movie on your smartphone, you choose your smartphone model as the target and it formats the movie specifically for your device. This cuts down on the file size dramatically since MacX DVD Ripper Pro knows the dimensions and video capability of your target device.

Is it legal?

This sounds like something that might be illegal, but used in the proper way, it’s not. You are within your full rights to “rip” a DVD you already own for your own personal enjoyment. Where you get into trouble is when you give your digital file to someone else or post it on the Internet.

When I reviewed MacX DVD Ripper Pro, I used it to transfer 3 DVDs I own. The first two worked without a hitch but I had a little trouble with the third one. That’s when I noticed a “Safe Mode” checkbox. Out of curiosity, I checked the box and it informed me that this is the mode to you when you encounter any problems during the conversion process. Sounded exactly like what I needed and it was. With Safe Mode checked, my third DVD converted perfectly.
