Is a Netflix price increase in your future?

I knew it was coming but honestly I forgot about it. In the past two years, Netflix announced two different price increases. The first Netflix price increase was from $7.99/month to $8.99/month for their most popular streaming plan. The second was from $8.99/month to $9.99/month for the same plan.

Along with the Netflix price increase announcements, Netflix stated they would grandfather in some of their longtime customers for up to two years. I am one of those longtime customers and have been happily still paying only $7.99/month since the first Netflix price increase announcement.

But that ended today when I received this email:

Netflix price increase notification

Mind you, I’m not complaining about the Netflix price increase. $9.99/month for the amount of Netflix that is streamed in my house is still a really good value. Whether it’s me watching Bates Motel, my wife watching Hart of Dixie, my one son watching The Flash or Arrow or my other son staying up late watching random Netflix movies, there’s almost always some sort of Netflix action going on in my house.

When you will see your Netflix price increase

If you are new to Netflix, odds are you are already paying $9.99/month. If you signed up back in the old days, like me, at $7.99/month, you could see your price increase any day now. In fact, you may have seen it already since the price increases for this group started rolling out in May. For those of you who signed up at $8.99/month, you can expect to see your Netflix price increase to $9.99/month starting this coming October.
