The day I worked without the Internet

Yesterday, my Internet connection was down nearly the entire day. It started out with some spotty on again, off again connectivity and then finally died around 10:00 a.m.

While I thought it might be fun to show how creative I had to be to get work done yesterday, I thought it would be even more fun to talk about what I couldn’t get done. This should be as horrific as it is entertaining.

A list of things I couldn’t get done yesterday:

  • Select my seat assignments for an upcoming flight
  • Look up the toll-free reservation phone number for American Airlines
  • Verify a PayPal payment
  • Check email on my computer
  • Respond to email on my computer
  • Post entries to my blog
  • Concentrate
  • Post witty and satirical things on Twitter
  • Register online for an upcoming event
  • View my Facebook news feed
  • Focus
  • Use bill pay to pay my bills
  • Update my calendar after a client rescheduled an appointment
  • Post a question to one of my Skype mastermind groups
  • Process a credit card payment
  • Communicate with a business associate via instant message

To be fair, technically I did get many of these things done. As I mentioned earlier, I just had to be creative. And I mostly have my iPhone to thank for my creativity.

Now if the cellular 3G networks had gone down too….
