In a previous video, I explained how you can set your DVR to record your favorite television show even when you’re not at home. In this video, I’m going to explain how you can watch your favorite programs even if you don’t record them.

Hi, I’m Mr. Noobie and today I’m going to share with you how to watch your favorite shows on demand.

What does it mean to watch a show on demand?

What does it mean to watch a show on demand? Think of on demand as a giant DVR managed by your television provider that records all of the most popular episodes for you. And at the press of a button, you have instant access to all of these shows!

All you need to do to get started with on demand is to pull up the on demand feature on your television screen, select your favorite show and favorite episode and press play. The show will begin playing immediately just as if you had recorded it yourself.

Now, not every show is available for watching on demand. At least not yet. But there’s a good chance that if the show you like is popular with other people, it will be available on demand.

On demand integrated right into your television experience

Some entertainment systems integrate on demand right into your television experience. For example, with X1 from Xfinity, you can use the voice search feature to speak what you want to watch. X1 will look for the matching show in your program guide, in your list of recordings and in its on demand library. You pick which way you want to watch it.

X1 will also let you know if the show you just tuned into that’s already half over is available on demand so you can start it from the beginning and not miss a thing.

Sorting and categorization

Depending on your television provider, your on demand shows may be sorted and categorized several ways to make finding your favorites easier. For example, your on demand shows may be categorized by the day of the week so you can quickly find all of the shows that aired during the past few days.

Shows may also be categorized by what’s popular or what’s trending. These are great categories to explore and find something new that you might like but have never watched before.

So next time you forget to record your favorite show or someone tells you about a new show you should be watching, check your television provider’s on demand library to see if it’s is just a click away.
